The Domestic Church

As Catholics, we believe that the couple who are married among us become a Sacrament of the Church. This is a very big act of faith as it means that we believe that the love of husband and wife makes Christ present in our world as Saviour for the world. We also believe that every family and every home is the Domestic Church. It is there, in our homes that the Church is at its best and its weakest

Praying with and for one another

Because of this faith it is obvious that prayer needs to be a real feature of our marriages and our family life. Praying with one another helps us to remember that Christ is present, and praying for one another helps us to see one another as God sees us. And God only sees the good in each of us. When we look at one another with our own eyes only, very often what we see is the things that are wrong. Through the power of God in our lives we can see the goodness and the beauty of our wife or husband; our daughter or son; our mother or father.

Living the Sunday Liturgy

There are very many helps to developing prayer in our homes. Love is for Life Trust offers two resources at present and we are working on some more. The first one that we present to you is Living the Sunday Liturgy. Too often we think that what happens at the altar is all that is involved in the Eucharist. It is what happens in our lives and in our world as a result of the Eucharist that is just as important. Living the Sunday Liturgy gives a simple way of preparing for each Sunday Mass and of living it out in the week ahead. An individual, a couple, a family, a group of couples, families, individuals can use it. If you want to know more about it Click

Movement of Continuous Prayer

On December 1st 1998 the Movement of Continuous Prayer for Marriage & Family Life began. Since then there has been someone praying for marriage & family life at every moment. This was made possible by people taking on the commitment of a specific hour on a specific day each month in such a way that they were handing the prayer on to one another, much the same as a relay race!! Fr. Johnny Doherty C.Ss.R., a Redemptorist priest has written a special booklet to assist with this prayer so that the focus can be kept on marriage & family life for the full time. This Movement has now spread to many places and continues to spread every day. There are currently about 7000 people involved with it. If you would like to know more about this Movement or would like to join us in it please click
